Thaipusam 2014


Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). It is mainly observed in countries where there is a significant presence of Tamil community. On Thaipusam day, Batu Caves often attracts over one million devotees offer prayers either by piercing their body with spikes and lemon, pulling a chariot or carrying Kavadis.Read more about thaipusam at wikipedia here. Malaysia 2014 new year revelry


Thousands of protesters poured into Merdeka square, Kuala Lumpur to cry foul over price hikes, but in the end they joined the thousands of revellers for the countdown to usher in 2014, minus the customary fireworks. Read the story at the staronline HERE .
